Bringing People to Jesus – By Father Andrew Bahhi

As we go through this Holy Season, the Great Lent, where we fast 50 days, we ask our Savior to make us true Christians by what we say and through our actions. Because every one of us can make a difference in the people around us, or by the environment we create. Every one of you can be a role model to be a very important message – come to the truth and come to the light.

As St. Paul told Timothy in his first letter, chapter 4, he was encouraging him “Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity.”

There is a call in this verse, an invitation to every one of you.

Every one of you is invited because this 3rd Sunday of the Great Lent tells us the story of the Paralytic Man. Mark 2 tells of a man who cannot walk, and his four friends who brought him to meet Jesus out of faith and creativity.

And when Jesus said, “your sins are forgiven,” a huge and very significant miracle occurred. But what really is important for all of us is when Jesus witnessed the faith of the four friends who brought the paralytic man to Jesus. They became role models for Christ. They made a difference in someone’s life.

Can you imagine someone who is always suffering, and suddenly, a person can help through faith and belief –in the name of Jesus – and prays for that person and gives them advice? This person will be a role model.

We as Christians are invited – called – to be role models for the people around us. In Jesus name.

You also can make that difference.  How many times we may stop coming to church while others come to church because they receive comfort?

So, it is our responsibility to make sure everyone loves Jesus, or let the others be separated.

Every one of you is invited. As it says in Matthew 5:16, it says, “let your light shine before all men, in order that they may see your holy lives and may give glory to your Father who is in Heaven.”

When you make your mouth speak good things, when you push your hand to do charitable work, and when you try to always be the peacemaker, you can make yourself like the friend of the paralytic man. You also can make a difference in someone’s life around you.

If you are here because you want to be true child of Christ, and you want to be saved, let me tell you something very important: You should behave according to that faith. Once we leave this earth, if we have lived as a good role model, we will end up in heaven.

Every crown will come to you will be according to all those you brought to Christ, or it will be taken from you if you were a bad role model.

If we know what to say; if we use our time wisely; if we love our neighbor and family; if we are so generous to serve and love those in need; if we think of our own salvation, it will be the best credit for you.

So, like the friends of the paralytic man, take people to Jesus. Take them through our prayers, our faith example, through helping them, and take them by loving people unconditionally. Because people will change their life and concept of faith because of people like you.
