From Father Andrew Bahhi: Listening and Understanding God’s Will

“My food is to do the will of him that sent me to finish his work.” – John 4:34

Jesus wanted to open our eyes as Christians and listen. Part of listening is to have a mission in your life. You are not only Christian to fill a number or sit in the church. You are to proclaim the good news to everyone. Jesus loves you. Open your heart to him.

Do the will of God, the Father.

To understand this will is not easy in our life. A lot of people struggle. We sometimes face trials in our daily life. Should I or should I not? How can I know the will of God in my life? How can we know, or discern, the will of God in my life?

If I don’t have the desire to hear his voice in my life, I will not hear him. If we really want to hear his voice, first we have to show desire, and to listen and obey his will for us.

As we pray the Lord’s prayer, we say “Let your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” Submit our will under His will.

How to do it?

  1. The Bible is the best source to hear His voice. The first and most important source. Read His book.
  2. Ask spiritual leaders. Like fathers, priests, monks, bishops. Ask them about whatever you think. If you believe in the power of the Holy Spirit, the Holy Spirit will talk through this person to tell you what is right and wrong.

Above all these things, you have to have peace in your heart. If you do not have peace in your heart for what you do, that means it is not from God.

It does not mean you won’t have trouble. But it does means when you have peace, you will be in the path of God.

Maybe you don’t recognize it right away, but if you believe whatever Jesus will do for you, it will turn out for your benefit.
