From Father Andrew Bahhi: Love Rises Above All Divisions
If we are here, this is an opportunity. We all know how bad the virus pandemic is, and how many people are dying. We really must thank God we are still alive and think twice that the life that God provided us is not in vain.
To accomplish His purpose in our life and call on more people to His kingdom.
We here, the believers, we are the kingdom of God. Jesus said the Kingdom of God is within you. The evil one does not want to see us living in love and harmony, one heart and soul. And that is why he is attacking this kingdom.
One of the diseases of the evil one is division. Today’s Bible reading is about division.
“If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. If a house is divided against itself, also that house cannot stand.” – Mark 3:24-25.
In our mind, we should be aware of this disease, the disease of division. And how it divides the families, the church, and also the society or country. Who does not hate division, knowing that it is something bad, or cause bad things between people? And yet we have many countries, churches, peoples and families divided.
How much does it hurt when people within the same family, they don’t even pick up the phone to say Merry Christmas or Happy Easter?
Sure, there are good people looking for conciliation, peace. But if we don’t open our heart to the work of the Holy Spirit, it is easy these seeds will grow and cause more division among people. If we don’t have enough love or humility, the result will end up in division.
In the Bible, 1 Corinthians 3, there is what is called the song of love. St. Paul talks about love:
“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.”
With this love we may never see wars or divisions in families.
Why did the evil one put division among us? He knows very well that unity & harmony will bring a huge blessing to all of us, and not only that, we will have a superpower from God. The disciples spoke before thousands and performed miracles because they were of one heart with God.
Put another way, imagine there is a narrow bridge. That bridge can only let one person cross. And at the same time two people walk from opposite sides. Either they will fight for who should pass. And one, or maybe both, will fall from the bridge with no mutual benefit.
Or each will wait for the other.
Or the third option, one of the two will behave wisely and encourage the other “jump over me” so both may pass.
God humbled himself with His only begotten son who bowed down and died for us and opened the way for us to heaven. And he made reconciliation between heaven & earth.
How can we apply this in our life?
If we don’t act wisely from now, we are closing the doors among us. Division is very bad, or we can call it a cancer in the body of the community, churches, families & country. We must call on God, repent, and to reconcile together.
We have to pray to God to give us love from his love. To give his humility from love, so you may humble yourself and cross safely and to accomplish our purpose in this life
