From Father Andrew Bahhi: The Meaning of Christmas

Christmas is the day when the Savior is born; and He was not only the Savior, but the prince of peace, the one who made reconciliation between heaven and earth.

When we celebrate, and say “Merry Christmas,” we should share the real joy that the heaven descended to earth, although the earth did not receive it well. There was no room for Joseph and Mary, but the shepherds were honored to assist. The angels came to earth and told the shepherds “Glory to God in the highest heaven and on earth peace and good will towards men.” (Luke 2:14)

You must ask yourself as you celebrate today, “What does Christmas mean to me?” If we treat it like any holiday, we are losing the meaning in our heart. As the Angels said that night “Do not be afraid for behold I bring you good tidings of great joy for all the people.” (Luke 2:10).

This was not any kind of joy, or a small joy, but a great joy from heaven above. And this joy is for every and each one of you.

Christmas is full of contradictions. And unfortunately, this is because of our sin. We see a virgin, conceived, and she is still a virgin. This is not logical.

And also, a star leading 3 men from the east to see the king of the kings in a manger. This was not a big home or fancy life.

And at the same time, we see simple shepherds in the midst of the kings, with the wise men.

Why are all these things happening on Christmas? If you are also going through hard times, if you pray from one side and you have contradictory feelings of envy and some corruption in your life; If you say “I love Jesus Christ” and then you do bad things or live in unforgiveness. If you want people to treat you well and you don’t treat others well – Jesus Christ wants to tell you “I am coming to make peace between you and God.”

Christmas is about having peace between you and God. By confessing your faith, then you will receive a great joy, and that joy will make you a true Christian. Like the shepherds glorified and praised God for all they have seen and heard, you can go home and do the same by opening your heart to Jesus.

Ask Him to forgive you and you will taste the great heavenly joy of the Christmas gift from heaven.

Please don’t lose this opportunity because you don’t know what will happen tomorrow. But if you surround yourself with Jesus; if you open your heart and receive Him in your heart; if you allow Him to be born in your heart, you will be a new creation and you will taste the great heavenly joy.
