When we read from Matthew 5, 6, 7, which we call the Sermon on the Mount from Jesus, we know there is nothing more important and significant. And he always said, “You heard…” and follows with “But I say to you…”

Usually as a King gives decrees, only the King himself can make the change. In the Old Testament, Moses gave the commandments and the people kept and memorized those commandments. Nobody could change a single figure, until the arrival of Jesus Christ.

Jesus, by saying “You heard” and “But I say to you,” was here to change things. If we can understand something from these two phrases, this is the same one editing the original laws passed to Moses. He is appearing in the flesh. Jesus is the true God appearing in the body and flesh.

That’s why we have to take what Jesus seriously in our life, not just as a teaching, but as commandments.

He equates anger with murder, “Whoever is angry with his brother shall be in danger of judgement.” Or “And anyone who says, ‘You fool!’ will be in danger of the fire of hell.”

We need to watch over our mouth. If you don’t keep your mouth, you will give thee to judgment. I don’t want anybody to lose his eternity for very silly things. In the Book of James 3:9-11 it says we should praise our Lord from our mouth but not curse any people.

After we recite the prayer of confession, we have to understand how important it is to receive the body and blood of Jesus to clean the heart, mind and whole body. Receiving that without worthiness will lead us to judgement.

And in the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus says we have to reconcile with everybody. Your brother is not only born from the same mother, but you are also from the same faith. Everyone is your brother and your sister.

But do we have this reconciliation with everyone? Before you come to the altar, if you are not ready with your repentance and to make peace with everyone, it will prevent you from gaining the real blessing of the blood and body of Jesus Christ.

When you offer mercy to everyone and to yourself, and you offer forgiveness to those people, this is the condition God will accept to give you His body and blood.

Like Jesus says Matthew 9:13 I desire mercy not sacrifice…mercy with everyone, with ourselves and our relationship with God.

I am saying all this because I really feel like sometimes something unknown or very small causes us to lose our peace and we might lose our eternity. Jesus is offering the answer and cure for us to receive our eternal life.
