How to Live Like a Disciple of Jesus

Our life is a journey, not only a station. Our everyday journey is to work on our life to be ready to inherit the kingdom of God. We all as a church, people of God and the sacred body of Christ on earth, are to grow together spiritually and go to the same place for the eternal life.

In the readings after the Pentecost, Jesus gives the disciples the information they need to continue their journey.

Jesus Christ himself, by giving order to the disciples, sent them to give His order to all of us – all of us who have love in our hearts and witness the love of Jesus Christ.

So, who are the disciples? Every one of you is called to be a disciple.

Every one of us is a disciple because a lot of people before us had the love of God like a fire in their heart, and they applied it into themselves, and they also became a disciple of Jesus Christ until they reached us.

In the readings today, Mark 6:12-13, the Bible says “So they went out and preached that people should repent. And they cast out many demons, and anointed with oil many who were sick, and healed them.” So we can see they were preaching for repentance, healing people, and they had authority from Jesus, by his name to cast out demons from people.

Preaching for repentance means Jesus is to become our savior and master. And to anoint the people with oil as a sign for the grace and blessing of God.

To be good disciples means we have to realize there are challenges. You are the salt of the earth. Always be ready to give life.  We have to insist, no matter what the trouble you face or people discourage you, for the life we share with others.

In Matthew 7:13-14, it says:

“Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.”

Strive always to give good news to everybody – this is another trait of the disciples. No matter what, we have to always bring God’s glory as priority #1.

We are followers of Jesus Christ, carry the cross daily and to follow him.

Always we should be ready and take the responsibility to listen to the good news and share it with everybody. It is not easy to be a disciple of Jesus Christ, but it is an honor, privilege and big blessing.
