How to Receive the Holy Spirit – By Father Andrew Bahhi

The Holy Spirit is also a divine nature. He is a person equal in the divine nature to the father and the son. As when we pray on the creed, we pray the Holy Spirit is God.

The problem we don’t understand is because we do not see Holy Spirit. We know a lot about the son. But if we understand the rule of the Holy Spirit in our life, we create a true understanding of who God is.  Among all the gifts that have been given to mankind, there is not greater gift than the presence of the Holy Spirit in this world.

“But you shall receive a power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you” – Acts 1:8

The first rule of the Holy Spirit is to reveal the truth, and we remember the Lord who said, “I am the truth.” In other words, to make us know who the Savior is, Jesus Christ.

But we as humans have a weakened nature. We move towards the bad things. We try to walk after our earthly desires more than the holy desires. So, the rule is to convince us, lead us, to the cross so we can go to the Savior so we can please the Father.

The Holy Trinity is based on three: Because the Father sent his son, who died. Then, the Holy Spirit leads us to believe and repent that the Lord Jesus Christ paid the wage of the sin.

That’s why the rule of the Holy Trinity in the salvation plan is very important. But since the Savior ascended to heaven, who leads us? The power and rule of the Holy Spirit. And this is what our Savior said in John 16:13, the spirit of truth comes and he will guide you to all truth.

Another rule for the Holy Spirit is called the gift giver. We know in Corinthians, we know about the gifts of the Holy Spirit, seven of them. Wisdom, understanding, counsel, fortitude, understanding, piety, and fear of God.

When we ask God to guide our lives, we have extra wisdom, knowledge, counseling and distinguishing between the good and bad.

And the third important rule of the Holy Sprit is the fruit of the Holy Spirit. In Galatians 5, the nine fruits of the Holy Spirit are love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. – Galatians 5:22-23

So how do I know I have the Holy Spirit? When I have these fruits in me.

There are bad things in our life, the trespasses, then sin, the bad habits, the earthly desire we have, and we often don’t know how to get rid of it. We try to repent, but we see our earthly nature takes us down. But if we put our hands in the hands of the mighty one, by the parent of the Holy Sprit we will become a beautiful image.

I pray that, with the power of the Holy Spirit, our lives that is full of a lot of mess and bad things, are solved today by the power of the Holy Spirit. If we really believe in God, you will see how the Holy Spirit will come and help us stand up from our fallen nature.
