The Amazing Faith – By Father Andrew Bahhi
Faith is the key to heaven. On earth you may need money to get what you want, but to get heaven all you need is faith. Faith is also very important in the Bible.
Nothing amazed the Lord while he was on earth except belief and unbelief. When the Lord was in his hometown, Nazareth, he faced criticism. As we read in Mark 6:5-6, he faced unbelief.
Is He the Savior or not? Is He the one who brought salvation to everyone, or not? Is He the one who went through villages, towns, cities, performing miracles, giving help to those who need it?
What really made our Savior very amazed or surprised was the unbelief of his hometown. He was amazed by their lack of faith. And now “He could not perform any miracles there,” Mark 6:5 says.
The question for us today: If the Savior would come to visit you in person, what is your position? Are you going to ask Him something that is not essential for your salvation? Or are you going to believe in His mighty works and personality as a Savior, and you have strong faith in Him?
In Hebrews 11:6, St. Paul says “but without faith it is impossible to please Him” — without faith it is impossible to please God. Pleasing Him is very important. The only way to please Him is to believe and have faith in the Son.
When healing others Jesus would say “according to your faith, let it be to you” or, as He said to the blind man, “your faith has made you well.”
Any miracle needs: 1) a strong faith from us 2) we need to ask the right person, the Savior.
That’s why when we don’t have faith or we don’t ask God, the result will come without blessing or miracle. But if we come to him with an open heart and broken spirit, and we kneel down to Him, asking “Lord, you are the one and only one to give me what I ask for.” – believe me, the miracle will come.
The question is: Can the Lord be or look weak? He can be weak when we don’t have faith in him. He is very mighty one through our faith. He is God.
That’s why the lack of faith of those people was the main reason Jesus did not perform miracles over there.
We should dear brothers and sisters, have strong faith not only during troubled times when we don’t know what to do. Because faith is a journey. When we trust the Lord in the good time AND bad times. Believe me the Lord will be there for us.
So, I want to ask one question to all of us. If the Lord will come today, will he be amazed by our faith or lack of faith? Will He be amazed by our strong belief in Him, or the unbelief?
Let your faith be translated as good actions, good deeds, then we can say you are a believer with strong faith. And then God will be amazed.
