Today, we are celebrating the annunciation of Zechariah, the priest. Today’s scripture is about Zechariah, and his wife, who were righteous people. Elizabeth was a barren woman who could not give birth, and both were old. Luke 1:5-23

When it was Zechariah’s turn to go to the temple and offer up incense, the angel told him, “Your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son.”

Responding, Zechariah doubted the ability of God, “I am an old man and my wife as well.” – but nine months later Elizabeth gave birth to St. John the Baptist. So today, my beloved, the title for today’s sermon is “Sin of Doubt” because Zechariah doubted the message of the Lord.

Maybe all of us fall into this sin, and there are different types of doubt, so we need to be careful because this is Satan’s weapon against us.

Let’s talk about three forms of doubt.

  1. Doubt in friendship. All of us have friends, and we may doubt even our best friend, thinking of what he or she said was right or wrong.
    Or if another person likes to gossip and comes to you about your friend, you end up believing this gossiper.
    The more these are repeated, the more doubt increases, and you can’t get rid of it easily. To a point of doubt the sincerity of your best friend. That could happen, so be careful.
  2. Doubt is held for thought. God forbid you are easy to doubt, but I believe you are all good faithful people, and you won’t let doubt come over you. But just in case you may doubt even your spouse, and that will make your life so miserable. Or you may even doubt your church doctrine because you aren’t searching for the truth or search of Jesus.Or you may even doubt the flesh and blood of the Lord. This is the only sacrament that can bind us to the Lord.When you doubt someone, recite this short prayer, My God, my Lord Jesus, have mercy on me. I am a sinner.”

    So, when any doubt attacks you, recite this short prayer. Believe me, the Lord will protect you immediately.

  3. Doubt of the existent God. As you know, today a lot of people don’t believe there is a God. They are far from Christianity for two primary reasons:First, – reading the Bible gives us so much knowledge and shines our minds. This book is an entirely different book from all the others “my word is a spirit and life. The second you open the Bible, the Holy Spirit comes out and gives you a real life with God. And it is a word of God, as it says in John 1:1, “Jesus Christ is the word of God.”And by Chapter 8:12, Jesus says, “I am the light of the world. He who follows me shall not walk in darkness.”

    So he who doubts walks in darkness because he cannot see the truth.

    Second, people need a real life with God. You need to come closer to Him, and yes, you will see Him if you get him involved in your daily circumstances. If you need anything, just ask him. And talk to him about anything.

    You can get him involved in everything because He said, “give me all your burdens” – and make him change your bad habits into spiritual virtues, as it did for many others.

Finally, let’s remember, as we remain close to the Lord, he can change us for the better. So even when doubt comes, we can fight it easily. God bless you.
