The Power of the Cross in Your Life – By Father Andrew Bahhi

When we talk about the cross in the church, we talk about something very important. The cross is a major measurement of our spiritual life. Everything we do in our lives, if we measure it with the cross, we will know if it is good and benefit our spiritual life.

For instance, in my work. The cross will be my measurement; in my heart, if I do good, I am a very good Christian. But if I twist the truth, the cross will tell me my spiritual measurement is not good enough.

We are talking about a superpower that comes out of this sign. When we cross ourselves, we feel comfortable. Where the cross is, we feel safe. Because you know the cross can comfort you and give you the peace you want.

It looks like a simple sign. But believe me, it is a very powerful sign.

So how can Jesus show us his strength, and will we benefit from His strength? First, know that this is a deeply symbolic figure. When we think about Jesus’s crucifixion on the cross, we think the cross is a sign of shame or weakness. But let me tell you, this is a sign of strength and victory.

As it says in Philippians 2:8-9:

And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to death— even death on a cross. Therefore, God exalted Him to the highest place and gave Him the name above all names

This is a sign of glory and victory. Why? He chose the crucifixion and called it the glorious way. When Jesus went to the cross, He said, “The Son of Man is Glorified, and God is Glorified in Him” – John 13:31-35. In other words, the sign of the cross is the sign of glorification.

That’s why we should remember that when one goes through hard times, we say that family is carrying the cross.

But for Jesus, when He was being crucified, they thought the cross will be the sign of his death. But instead, it became the sign of Jesus defeating death. e smashed the hate of the devil on the cross. So likewise, when we go through hard times by carrying a cross, ywhen you look at it

So, when you are going through hard times, and carrying your own cross, remember through the perspective of Jesus that you are carrying the sign of victory. This sign, this cross in your life, you can see it as a sign of glory when you put it in Jesus’s hand.

The door to heaven was closed before the death of our savior on the cross. But by Jesus laying himself on the cross, He made this sign a bridge to cross over our weaknesses in order to enter eternal life.

So, can you see how important this sign is?

St. Paul said in his 1 letter to Corinthians, “For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved, it is the power of God.” – 1 Corinthians 1:18.

This sign is powerful; it is the power of God if we know how to use it in faith and benefit from this sign. I pray that God will bless all of us, every single family, house, and business, by the sign of the cross. Believing that if we discover the power of this sign in our lives, we will find the most secure place in our lives.
